climbing down
It usually takes about 4 hours to walk down from top of Mt. Fuji to the 5th level... or better put it, RUN down. Our leader happens to be a fast one and we were down in less than 3 hours! Thank God for the walking cane that we bought. My son and I were questioning how in the world did Aku go up and down without the walking stick! The trail was so steep that my toe made a hole in my brand new sock!
Would I climb it again? My son says he would like to do it again. It was a good experience and I met a lot of cool people in our group. I don't mind doing it again either.... Next time, I would love to walk around the mouth of Mt. Fuji on top which we didn't get to do this time.
But the soreness all over my body the next day makes me think naaah. I was walking slow with feet apart. It reminded me of the time in college when I went down the Grand Canyon with Navajo Mission group and how we were walking like a cowboy the next day. This time, it was not only painful to walk but also painful to sit or stand up. It was so painful to walk normal. For my son though, he was tired the next day but wasn't feeling THAT sore. I guess I am not as young as I think I am.
Maybe climbing it once is enough.
Just seeing the beauty from the distance is enough.
Just knowing that I went to the top is enough.

I agree with you. Once is enough. You have the pictures and memories for a life time!
