i was cleaning cabinets here and there and found some expired stuff that need to be thrown away. a lot of medicine and vitamin bottles were expired. some were even dated from 1999! the stomach medicine which works wonders was expired october of '03. the package wasn't even opened! those unopened ones and costly vitamins were painful to throw away in the trash can...
then i found miki prune bottles... they are not cheap but i can't even open the lid cuz it's so old! it's dated 59.12.13. wait a min, does this means it's from 1959!?!?!? noooo way!
there was an unopened blueberry jam that was dated with year 15... it's also no way that it's from 1915... that's before my grandma was born! i had to calculate a bit since japanese goods sometimes goes by era years. since it's heisei 21 now, that would mean it's 6 years old (2003). still, it's too old to even think about spreading that thing on my toast.
then there were edible things from taiwan... they have their own ways of counting the years and i always forget how many years i need to subtract from 2009... i wonder why every country doesn't go by the same AD years. it would make life less confusing.
another thing i need to figure out if it's edible or to be thrown away is an unopened 1 liter 100% maple syrup from canada. it doesn't even have an expiration date. like honey, i wonder if it doesn't spoil if not opened at all.
man, we have sooo many unused stuff in our house.

yeah, it's the mose stinkiest medicine on earth... but the best. one time, i had brought it to high school cuz my stomach wasn't feeling well and when i opened it in the cafeteria, everyone around me had the look, "WHAT IS THAT SMELL?!?!?" it sure stunk up the whole room. very potent. i love it. (^^)
haha!!! that's a funny story! i used to give them to friends if they were over and had a stomachache... "trust me, it works really well!!! don't mind the smell!" the ones who were brave enough to tried it always felt better. love that stuff!
